NJ FamilyCare and Public Health Emergency - 06/04/2021
NJ FamilyCare will not be terminating those who are no longer eligible until at least January 2022.
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), signed into law on March 18, 2020, bars all Medicaid terminations during the public health emergency caused by COVID-19. Any individual enrolled in Medicaid since March 2020 will have continued benefits until the last day of the month when the public health emergency ends. Yesterday, New Jersey announced the passage of legislation enabling the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency. Although the state is ending the public health emergency, NJ FamilyCare will be following the federal Public Health Emergency timeline as far as terminating ineligible recipients. As of now, the absolute earliest the federal Public Health Emergency can end is January 2022. We will continue to update you as further information becomes available.
Please note that if you receive a renewal packet, do not ignore it! All renewal packets must be returned by the due date.
